THIS IS ME...

My photo
Barwell, Leicestershire, United Kingdom
Hi fellow crafting friends.. I am married and have been for 18 years, we have 2 children who are 17 and 14 and getting more complicated as they get older! I love my crafting.. though mainly cardmaking, it keeps me busy and off the (high)street, apart from our local craft shop where I am a frequent visitor. I have been crafting for about 6 year, it started with putting a few cut out easter eggs on some cards for people and just grew to what it is now, I have taken over the dinning room, garage and I have the cupboard under the stairs to.. one day I hope to convert the garage into a proper craft room. We live in Leicestershire but are orginally from Exeter in Devon. We moved here after a short stint in Bedfordshire but have been here for 8 years in October, its the longest we have ever been in one place for! My husband is an aircraft engineer but I dont really share his love of metal flying machines! Just cars and crafting!

Something vintage

Another addition to the collection for the time being.

I have just joined a new website called A Vintage Affair, I recommend it to everyone that loves all that is vintage.
Anyway, it inspired me to do some crafting cause as you may have noticed it has been a bit quiet here for a while!

I have just been diagnosed with diabetes and have been told to lose weight so have been rather taken up with that at the moment and lost my momentem for crafting.. so if anyone has any tips for getting some steam up again please let me know!! At the same time if anyone has any tips for making the perfect vintage card I would also love to hear it.. I am far from this and need as many tips as possible, kind ones please!

I can't believe its the middle of September already, the kids have gone back to school and I am already counting the days to half term!
Hoping to be away then but want to lose another stone by then.. lots more visits to the gym I think is what is needed!!

I hope that everyone out there is ok and I do apologise for not keeping up with you all, please keep the emails and text coming though as I havent forgotten you.

Burger Card

Had a Birthday card to do for my freinds son and couldnt think what to do.. but he works in McDonalds so thought that a burger would go down quite well!
I printed this image out twice and decoupaged the bun and the tomato to make it stand out.

Just sitting creating..

I was sitting here yesterday and came across this image of a rather lovely rose so downloaded it and cut it out and decoupaged it (which isnt my favourite crafting technique but found this quite relaxing for once).

Its wonderful what you can do with a bit of card siscors and tape and of course a few stamping techniques, etc!

Anyway, I am quite pleased the way this has turned out and hope that someone may think the same when I take my card box up to Blackpool next week when we are going to visit my hubby at work!

Another Anniversary card

This is for my Mother and Father in law for their 49th Wedding anniversary.
I used the same colours for this as I did for the 50th anniversary card, mainly as I had the bits of card left!!
The curling unfortunatly was caused by heat embossing the gold powder on.

July

Heres Julys offerings so far.
The Scrabble board card was for my Mother in law who is an avid fan of the game so thought that it would be a good idea for her card.

Bookatrix 50th Anniversary card

I am not a big fan of all these over flowery cards but this one is for a friend of my mothers on there 50th Wedding anniversary.
I bought some flowers and was lucky enough to find some almost matching Mirror card (in burgundy) and the gold just sets it off nicely. I am hoping that it will go down well!

Novelty Cards

I thought that I would post some of the novelty cards that I have done in the past. These are great for men and we all seem to have a few mental blocks when it comes to them!

Inspired by Collaging

I love these postcards and they make excellent
central pictures for these cards.

I'm on a roll!

Here are a couple more that I have done.

I just love collages and love having a go but never get the form of collage that I want. I thought that I would have a go at this one and see how it turns out.
I love the inspiring cards of Beata Ewas cards (see her blog below) and the manic stamper (also below) and aspire to do as well with collaging as they do.. I could do with some lessons from them!
Anyway, I am going to keep going with them and see if I get better, any advice by the way would be great!

Fathers day (21st June)

The second of my fathers day cards (above).

Just got my father in law and a card for my husband from the kids to do now.. watch this space!

Cards on Acetate

I did 2 of these a while ago for my mother in law and did the other one today, they are so nice to do and give the 'wow factor' to cards.
They are easy to do but you have to remember to cover the other side where you've stuck it on, but thats fairly easy to. Just cover with a matching peice of card on the inside, no one will know!
I find the best thing to use for sticking card and acetate together is silicon glue.

My Cats!

This is Marcel (on my crafting table) and Bayley how lives on the boiler in the kitchen. (sorry they are the wrong way around, I cant seem to change them).
Marcel seems to love sitting on things that I want to used, he definitely rules the roost!
Poor Bayley who used to come and go as she pleased has taken to be a housecat since Marcel decided to come and live with us! He's a handsome fellow, but very bossy!

K & Company papers

Made this using scraps from other peices I'd used. Us crafters never throw anything away!

This was a few different ideas all put together and it has taken rather a long time to do, but I am so pleased with the finished card.

The backing papers are from K & Company the stamp was one from the new issue of creativity magazine with free stamps this month.

Same stamp, different look.

Thought that I would use this stamp to create a different look.
